Community Rehoming Program

A Safe Path to a New Beginning.

Sometimes life circumstances change, and families can no longer keep their pets. Strays of Hope is here to help — not with judgment, but with compassion. Our Community Rehoming Program provides a safe and structured way to rehome cats and dogs without ever entering a shelter.

How It Works

You Reach Out

Let us know you need rehoming assistance.

We Create the Listing

You provide photos and information, and we publish your pet's adoption profile through our system.

We Handle Applications

All adopters apply through Strays of Hope and must meet our adoption standards.

Safe, Supported Adoption

Once approved, the adopter connects with you to meet your pet. We finalize everything: contracts, fees, and microchip transfers.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for our rehoming program, animals must meet the following standards:

  • •Spay/Neuter: All animals must be spayed or neutered before adoption.
  • •Microchip: All animals must be microchipped.
  • •Vaccinations: All animals must be current on vaccinations.
  • •
Health Tests (must be completed within the last 12 months):
    • •Cats: FVRCP (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia) and rabies.
    • •Dogs: DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus), bordetella, and rabies.
  • •Behavioral Evaluation: Every animal must undergo a behavioral evaluation to ensure safe placement.

If your pet has not yet met one or more of these requirements, Strays of Hope can help. All services can be provided by us at cost, or you may complete them through your veterinarian and provide official documentation.

Rehoming Fee

Rehoming fees are set by Strays of Hope and are based on species, age, breed, behavior, special needs, and other relevant factors. This ensures fairness, supports the ongoing costs of the program, and maintains the value of each animal's life.

Why Use Our Program?

  • Keeps your pet out of shelters.

  • Protects animals from unsafe online "free to good home" postings.

  • Ensures adopters are properly screened.

  • Provides peace of mind knowing your pet is going to a loving, vetted family.

  • Every animal deserves a safe path to a new beginning. With Strays of Hope, you don't have to walk this road alone.
